What products are subject to the recall?
The voluntary recall includes one production batch of Finger-Ease Guitar String Lubricant. The product is a clear aerosol spray sold in a white-color aluminum can with a black cap. The product is approximately 1.5 inches long by 1.5 inches wide by 6 inches tall and weighs about 4.5 oz. The product has a picture of a brown guitar with the words “Tone Finger Ease Guitar String Lubricant” in brown, black, and red lettering. There is a red horizontal stripe on the can. The can says “Manufactured by Chem-Pak, Inc.” and the production batch code is printed on the bottom of the aluminum container.

How many products are subject to the recall?
Approximately 25,000 units from Lot #106824 are subject to the recall in the United States.

What is wrong with the product?
The recalled guitar string lubricant contains a contaminant which can pose a risk of skin irritation.

No other Finger-Ease production batches are subject to this recall.

How will the replacement products address the issue?
Chem-Pak has instituted additional controls in its factory inspection protocols and has tested replacement products to ensure they are compliant and meet the longstanding and high-quality you have come to expect of Finger-Ease for over 50 years.

We have been using the product without any issues. Can we continue to use it?
If the can is from the defective lot #106824, then No. You should stop using the product immediately and register to receive a replacement product.

Steps Consumers Should Take

What should I do if I have a recalled product?
Please immediately stop using the product.

Note: Please be sure to have your product with you when you register. You will need (i) a camera/phone with camera and (ii) a permanent marker to complete your registration.

To register for this recall, you must take the following steps.
  • You may either upload a copy of your proof of purchase using the button above. (You may be able to access your proof of purchase in an online purchase history.); or
  • You may mark your Finger-Ease can in permanent marker with the following information:
    • Write the following on the bottom of each container:
      • Write your initials and the date on the bottom of the can where the production batch code number is printed. Make sure we can still read the production batch code number after you write on it.
        • (If you have multiple units, you will also need to add a number on each unit sequentially 1, 2, 3, etc. If you are requesting a recall for a single unit, you may disregard this step.)
      • You will need to take a photograph of the above and prepare to transmit it to us.
    • Take a photo of the bottom of the can showing the date on the bottom of the can, your initials, and the date you initialed the product.
  • Upload the photo(s) to the website above
    • You may upload multiple files
  • We are pleased to provide you with an additional complimentary replacement can with your registered replacement.
    • All replacement cans are available free of charge and free shipping and handling is included.

How do I dispose of the recalled units?
You should dispose of each canister in a sealed garbage bag in accordance with state or local laws.

How much will the replacement product cost?
You will receive the replacement product at no cost to you.

Are any other Finger-Ease or Chem-Pak products being recalled?
No, other Finger-Ease or Chem-Pak products are not included in this recall.

What will the company do with my personal information used to send the replacement?
Chem-Pak will use that information only to ship the replacement cans.
